3. Ever heard of a small forward?

It seems like everybody but the Kings understands that the team needs to somehow get a real small forward on the roster. I don’t know who in the name of modern basketball told the Kings small forwards are not important, but not adding a quality wing sounds like a recipe for disaster. Sure, Justin Jackson played great in the Summer League, but he is far from a proven NBA player.

Only the Kings would think that Justin Jackson can make a drastic leap from his subpar rookie year and serve as a constant starting small forward. Eventually, yes that can happen. Right now however, the Kings had better sign or trade for an established wing.

The Kings must shoot their shot, especially when a guy like Rodney Hood is out there. Even though he’s a restricted free agent, Sacramento has the cap space to make an offer the Cleveland Cavaliers would hesitate to match. Hood has shown some inconsistencies throughout his career, but also has talent that’s hard to ignore at age 25.

Despite what Vlade Divac is trying to feed the fans, it’s also obvious that Marvin Bagley III is not a small forward. The Kings had better wake up sometime before the season starts and make some adjustments.
