5. DeAndre Ayton, Phoenix Suns

The Phoenix Suns‘ first overall pick DeAndre Ayton finds himself in the middle of the pack, which isn’t a bad proposition given the expectations set before him. The 7’1″ big man didn’t seem too overwhelmed by the moment in Summer League. He averaged 14.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in his four appearances with the Suns.

He put up 10 points and eight rebounds in his debut against the Dallas Mavericks in a 92-85 victory. Ayton recorded a double-double (21 points, 12 rebounds) in the next contest against Sacramento Kings.

The moment didn’t look too big for him, as he shot just under 60 percent from the field. The rookie big man averaged 26.8 minutes per game, something that should change as time progresses.

Given the small sample-size of games he appeared in, he looked ready for more than just Summer League basketball, earning Second Team honors in the process.
