The Phoenix Suns’ time in 2018 NBA Summer League was brief, but with so many key players on the court, here’s a look at what the core youngsters showed.

Despite starting the 2018 NBA Summer League with a perfect 3-0 record, the Phoenix Suns denied their fanbase a more extensive look at a young team, dropping their first game in the bracket against the 30th-ranked Philadelphia 76ers and missing out on a deeper run in the tournament portion.

In Summer League, wins and losses don’t really matter, but it was still a bit of a bummer for such a talented team — especially one boasting so many youngsters who figure to play key roles in The Timeline moving forward — bow out so early and in such underwhelming fashion.

Still, with three preliminary games, one knockout loss and a bounce-back win in the consolation bracket, we got a decent look at No. 1 overall pick Deandre Ayton, two former No. 4 overall picks in Josh Jackson and Dragan Bender, three other Suns rookies and plenty of other young players.

The question is, who stood out? How did all these key players fare, and who underwhelmed? Though a player’s time in Las Vegas always needs to be taken with a grain of salt, here are five takeaways from the Phoenix Suns’ time in NBA Summer League.
