5. Summer League roster boasts some solid G League options

Last season, the Wizards didn’t take many risks with their two-way contracts in 2017-18. That should change with the debut of their G League squad, Capital City GoGo, to begin the 2018-19 season. With a G League squad forming, they have an opportunity to sign a second player to a two-way deal.

Two-way contracts give NBA teams an opportunity to allow a player to play mostly in the G League while appearing in no more than 45 days with the NBA team as well. They signed undrafted forward Devin Robinson to a two-way deal last July, as well as undrafted forward Michael Young. Young didn’t make it through the season, getting waived on Jan. 3. Robinson appeared in just one game for the Washington Wizards last year, but should shine for the GoGo in 2018-19.

The Wizards have an opportunity to sign one more two-way player, leaving open the possibility of developing another player on their NBA team and their new G League squad.  There are plenty of candidates to consider for 2018-19. Tiwian Kendley had a good showing, maybe he can make the G League roster or earn a contract. They will need to choose wisely though as they only have 15 roster spots available.
