The Washington Wizards won one game at the 2018 NBA Summer League, but their prospects showed signs of growth. Here are five takeaways from Las Vegas.

The Washington Wizards are done with NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas after their 96-92 loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. The Wizards won just one of their five contests during Summer League play, but they got solid individual performances from some potential two-way and reserve prospects.

Second-year forward Devin Robinson had a solid performance this year and rookie Troy Brown Jr. turned heads as well with his play. Given how the offseason has played out in free agency, it was good to see their emergence and they weren’t the only ones. Not to say Jeff Green and Dwight Howard weren’t solid acquisitions, but questions still remain about bench depth.

Big man Thomas Bryant and rookie point guard Chris Chiozza were two others who also turned heads with their play. It will be interesting to see if they did enough to make a splash in the Wizards’ future plans.

In reality, a lot of guys are playing for their basketball careers when Summer League comes around. On the bright side, the Wizards will need to build a roster for their upcoming G League squad, the Capital City GoGo, set to debut in 2018-19. Their selection of talent from here on out will be important as they look to develop as an overall franchise.
