Houston Rockets: How will Michael Carter-Williams fit in next year?

Last season
The 2017-18 season was Michael Carter-Williams’s fifth in the NBA and his first as a member of the Charlotte Hornets. Last summer, he signed a one-year deal with the team worth $2.7 million to serve as the backup point guard to Kemba Walker. He appeared in 52 games for the Hornets last year and had the opportunity to start two of them.
His numbers were not particularly impressive as he averaged 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 16.1 minutes per game. His shooting numbers are not exciting if you’re a fan of the Rockets, as he shot just 33.2 percent from the field and a dreadful 23.7 percent on 3-pointers.
Unfortunately for Carter-Williams and the Charlotte Hornets, their backup point guard had to undergo shoulder surgery in March that would keep him out of the lineup for the rest of the year. He is expected to make a full recovery and contribute to the Rockets, but it has been some time since Carter-Williams played basketball at NBA game speed.
