Houston Rockets: 3 reasons James Ennis is a great pickup
Just two days following Luc Mbah a Moute’s departure, the Houston Rockets reportedly came to an agreement with forward James Ennis on a two-year deal. Here are three reasons why the 28-year-old makes for a great fit in Clutch City.
After failing to move at a swift pace during the opening week of free agency, general manager Daryl Morey and the Houston Rockets responded by adding a new piece to their roster, agreeing to a two-year, $3.4 million deal with forward James Ennis, per Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports.
Ennis, who has played for four teams in his five-year career, averaged 7.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per game through 72 outings with the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons last season.
He also shot 47.4 percent from the field, as the second round pick from the 2013 NBA Draft has worked diligently to become a viable 3-and-D player on the wing, providing his respective teams with valuable minutes in the process.
Through six games in the 2017 NBA Playoffs, Ennis posted 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per 36 minutes for the Grizzlies. He showed his worth as an everyday player, as the man who was called upon to spot Chandler Parsons in the starting lineup in Memphis will now be asked to help the Rockets overcome the losses of Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute this upcoming season.
Does the 28-year-old have what it takes to emerge as the starting small forward out of training camp? Here are three reasons why Ennis is a great pickup for Clutch City.
