Memphis Grizzlies: 3 reasons Kyle Anderson contract is a good move
The Memphis Grizzlies have reportedly signed Kyle Anderson to a four-year deal approximately worth $37.2 million. Here’s a look at why this is a good move.
The Memphis Grizzlies had a memorable 2017-18 campaign, but it was for all of the wrong reasons. Early on, things were going reasonably well as the team won seven of its first 13 games of the season.
Then it happened.
Mike Conley, who was averaging 17.1 points and 4.1 assists per outing, went down with a season-ending heel injury on Nov. 13 and things only got worse from that point on. David Fizdale would be relieved of his coaching duties just 19 games into the season, but that move did little to stop the losing.
In fact, the Grizzlies posted a 0-10 mark during the month of February. They lost 13 of their 16 games in March and followed that up by losing five of their final six contests in April.
When it was all said and done, the Grizzlies finished with a 22-60 mark – their worst season since they posted an identical record back in 2007-08. On the heels of a very disappointing season, the Grizzlies have been active this offseason.
They added rookies Jaren Jackson Jr. (Michigan State) and Jevon Carter (West Virginia) in the 2018 NBA Draft. The Grizz have also reached an agreement on a one-year deal with Omri Casspi, who played for the Golden State Warriors last season.
Now it appears the Grizzlies are adding yet another piece to the puzzle in the form of Kyle Anderson, who has spent each of his four years in the league with the San Antonio Spurs, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Here’s a look at three reasons this is a good pickup.
