3. Consistent off-court issues

Issues off the court have plagued Dwight Howard his entire career. Although highly praised his first several years in Orlando, the 2011-12 season was filled with drama surrounding him. Who could forget his infamously awkward media moment with Stan Van Gundy?

At the time, his trouble in Orlando was merely viewed as a superstar player wanting to leave for a larger market. He arrived in Los Angeles the next season, and it wasn’t long before he was having issues with Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Kobe had issues with numerous players throughout his career, so Howard was given another pass.

By the time the former Superman arrived in Houston, it was becoming clear that he was the problem. Howard is known throughout the league as a charismatic playful guy, but that act wears thin over time. According to ESPN‘s Calvin Watkins, that’s exactly what happened towards the end of his tenure in Houston.

"“While Howard is irked by not getting the ball as often as he would like, it is Harden who is dismayed at the center. He wishes Howard would demand the ball and not goof around so much. Howard’s personality — bubbly, friendly, warm — often can rub guarded people such as Harden the wrong way. Howard jokes with fans during games and easily becomes frustrated with referees.”"

In short, Howard is a cancer in any NBA locker room. Several players from the Atlanta Hawks celebrated his departure. The Wizards are already a team that lacks chemistry, as witnessed last season with the issues between John Wall and Marcin Gortat. Yes, the former No. 1 overall pick is an upgrade from Gortat on paper. However, history shows that he will likely create problems among his teammates.
