The signing of Michael Carter-Williams makes little sense for a Houston Rockets squad attempting to finish what it started in the 2018 NBA Playoffs.
With all of the big free agents off the board, the Houston Rockets decided to go small in their offseason acquisitions, agreeing to a one-year, $1.8 million deal with Michael Carter-Williams, according to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski.
After being named the Rookie of the Year back in 2014, Carter-Williams has struggled mightily, bouncing around to three other teams while trying to find his niche.
This past season saw MCW lace up for the Charlotte Hornets, where he put up a paltry 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 16.1 minutes a game, unable to show off just one discernible skill in his repertoire.
Houston is a team that fell just short of the NBA Finals, losing a Game 7 on its home court to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors.
Only subtle tweaks were needed to the roster in order to get the Rockets over the hump. Despite the intrigue his length presents, Carter-Williams isn’t the answer, making both fans and analysts alike wonder why they didn’t look to spend their money elsewhere.
