How he impacts the roster

DeAndre Jordan gives this roster a huge shakeup. The Dallas Mavericks have liked to play small-ball with Nowitzki at center. Now with Jordan in the team, he is going to be the starting center. Nowitzki will move to the 4 and Harrison Barnes will play the 3.

This is a much more traditional lineup and will play to the strengths of these three players. Wesley Matthews and DSJ will round out the starting five. This basically gives the Mavericks four decent shooters and one very committed post player who will try and rebound everything.

This will consign Salah Mejri and Dwight Powell to the bench. They will be fighting for minutes all season. However, given the fact that Jordan has averaged more than 30 minutes for the past five seasons, they may not get much time on the court.

The Mavericks have been smart in their acquisition of Jordan. They have a heap of cap room for this season, which is why they were able to give him what he wanted. As mentioned earlier, they also have the cap room to keep him beyond next season.
