Last season

Last season, DeAndre Jordan had arguably his best year to date. Let’s face it: With the dismantling of the Clippers over the season, he had to. Chris Paul left before the season in a trade with the Houston Rockets. Blake Griffin was also traded to the Detroit Pistons during the season.

This left Jordan without his two main teammates that had made the Clippers such a hard team to beat. However, Jordan showed true grit and buckled down. He played 77 games, averaging 15.2 rebounds, 12.0 points, 1.5 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.5 steals per game.

Jordan tried to carry the Clippers on his back after Griffin was traded away and as they finished with 42 wins and were close to the playoffs, he did a pretty good job. This experience is going to be invaluable next season with the Mavericks, who were only a 24-win team.

Jordan is going to have to lead a young team that has played behind a superstar in Dirk Nowitzki for a long time. He is also slowing down more and more each year, meaning others need to shoulder more of the load.
