5. Brad Wannamaker

The Celtics could go into the season with an open roster spot, indicating that they believe they have the positional versatility on their roster to replace Smart. Newly signed EuroLeague stud Brad Wanamaker could help ease this decision.

If you recall, Wanamaker was a star for the Pittsburgh Panthers when they still beat up teams in the BIg East. Since then, he has blossomed in Europe, becoming a great 3-point shooter, hard-nosed defender and capable playmaker.

Synergy Basketball is very high on Wanamaker:

The Celtics are stacked with players who are both switchable on offense and defense, making the Wanamaker signing even more pronounced. With his ability to grind defensively and play the combo guard role, Wanamaker is great Smart insurance.
