Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 reasons Anthony Tolliver is a good move
1. Timberwolves bringing back a familiar face
Tolliver has been around the block a few times during the course of his 10-year NBA career. In fact, he has played for nine different teams since he entered the league back in 2008.
When it came to deciding which team he wanted to play for next, the Timberwolves were his first choice despite the fact four other teams were vying for his services. Although Tolliver has been a journeyman, this will mark the second time he has played in the Twin Cities.
Tolliver’s previous stint lasted from 2010-12. He averaged 6.7 and 4.1 points per outing in those two seasons. Although Tolliver is not a superstar by any means, he is someone the Timberwolves have had on their radar for the past few seasons.
After the two sides failed to reach an agreement in each of the last two seasons, they were able to work out a deal this time around after Tolliver had two conversations with head coach and president of basketball operations Tom Thibodeau.
"“It just never worked out before, for one reason or the other,” Tolliver told the Star Tribune. “It seems like we talk every summer now and this year, it just worked out.”"
Since his days with the Chicago Bulls, Thibodeau has always been a no-nonsense kind of guy that heavily relies upon his starting unit almost to a fault. With that being said, if Thibs makes the effort to reach out to a player who will be utilized in a reserve role on more than one occasion, chances are that player brings something valuable to the mix.

It may have taken three years for this reunion to take place, but the Timberwolves finally got their man and it will be a good fit for both sides.
