2. Floor-spacing potential

It’s no secret that the NBA has become enamored with the 3-point shot. To prove my point, in 2017-18, the Houston Rockets became the first team in history to attempt more shots from beyond the arc than they did from 2-point range.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves were the lowest-scoring team from deep last season. Not only that, but the Timberwolves have finished last in this category in each of the last three seasons as well.

This is an area where Tolliver excels. Last season the 6’8” forward shot 43.6 percent from distance on 4.6 attempts per contest. Additionally, Tolliver is a career 37.6 percent shooter from 3-point range. Not too bad for a guy that hasn’t really been able to stick with one team for very long.

With that in mind, the Timberwolves are in dire need of a player who can knock it down from long range and Tolliver was looking for a situation where he would be able to come in and contribute immediately.

Being that Tolliver fills a glaring need for a Timberwolves club that doesn’t have a lot of floor-spacers on the roster, this could be a match made in heaven.
