The Memphis Grizzlies have the option to start the future now or wait with their current roster. Starting the future now may pay astronomical dividends.

The Memphis Grizzlies have found themselves cap-strapped after giving Mike Conley Jr., Chandler Parsons and Marc Gasol max contracts.

Although deserving at the time, those deals don’t look so great after you factor in the team’s production since those deals were signed. Parsons only played 36 games this past season and Conley only played in 12 games.

The Grizzlies drafted Jaren Jackson Jr. fourth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft and he has been very productive in the Utah Summer League so far, averaging 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in two games.

Jackson is clearly the center of the future for the Grizzlies, but the question is should, the future start now?
