Philadelphia 76ers: 3 reasons Wilson Chandler trade is a terrific move

2. Bench depth/trade value
The Sixers definitely had some kinks to work out in their wing rotation after last season.
Robert Covington started most of the team’s games at the 3-spot in the lineup, followed by Justin Anderson in relief. Other than that, the Sixers had no solely identifiable small forwards in their roster, forcing Covington and Anderson to play out of their given roles.
The organization has made very little noise during this crazy offseason, but that could mean that they are actively in the works for something bigger.
Chandler gives the Sixers additional value and depth in the case that they would make a final attempt to acquire Kawhi Leonard from the Spurs in a trade that would likely include a package of a future first round draft pick, as well as any of the available players who are not named Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons or Markelle Fultz.
If the Sixers hold their ground, however, they will have a solid rotation of wing players to complement the cornerstones of Simmons and Embiid.
