How he affects the current roster

Robinson will fill the same role on this team that he held with the Indiana Pacers. He will be slash off the ball while also being tasked with the strongest offensive threat on defense. His 6’9″ wingspan and athleticism allow him to match up well with the majority of opposing wings. Robinson has the ability to be Casey’s version of Anunoby on this team.

Casey loved longer players at all positions. Anunoby and Delon Wright were both long for their position. Robinson’s wingspan will give the Pistons increased lineup flexibility. Coming into camp, he will be given the opportunity to fight for the starting small forward spot.

If his upward trend in shooting continues, he could give Johnson a serious run for his money. As as a starter, he would be the team’s best defensive player, while rivaling Reggie Bullock for the best shooter.

If Johnson maintains his hold on the starting spot, Robinson would be the first wing off the bench. He’ll give the second unit the wing defense it’s been lacking. Luke Kennard is a high-energy player, but he needs defensive support next to him. Robinson has worked well off the bench in his career. His slashing ability should work well with Ish Smith running the offense and would make for a strong second unit.
