How he fits

Dwight Howard is a solid fit as a short-term option for the Washington Wizards. Beyond that, if he’s seeking a bigger role, he could be another locker room headache in the making. John Wall and Bradley Beal are the cornerstones of the franchise and need to remain as such. Howard has lost a step, but he still can be a solid threat in the pick-and-roll. He’s not quite the athletic big John Wall spoke of needing, but he’ll be a decent option.

The Wizards could certainly use Howard’s help is on the boards. They ranked 21st in the NBA (43.1 rebounds per game) as a team last season. In the postseason, that number dropped to 40.0 rebounds per game, which had a little bit to do with their early exit at the hands of the Toronto Raptors. His 13.6 rebounds per game bode well for all parties involved, including his 3.1 offensive rebounds per contest.

The addition of Dwight Howard could give the Washington Wizards’ an interesting defensive dynamic in the paint. Point guard John Wall led the team in blocks last season with 1.1.  No player other than Wall averaged more than one block per game as well.
