The Washington Wizards have made their move at the center position, agreeing on a deal with veteran big man Dwight Howard in free agency.

The Washington Wizards have wasted little time in making a move for a new starting center during the free agency period. Dwight Howard will join yet another team after his latest stint with the Charlotte Hornets just didn’t seem to work out. The Hornets traded Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov and a second-round draft pick back on June 20.

The Nets will buy out Howard’s contract and then, entering the 2018-19 season, he will be a member of the Washington Wizards. The deal is for one year and worth $5.3 million. It’s not a bad choice considering what Howard brings to the table on the defensive end, but he isn’t a player teams are building around these days, either.

The Wizards are Howard’s fourth stop over the past four seasons. He hasn’t stayed longer than a season on his last two teams, the Hornets and the Atlanta Hawks. It may speak to his presence in his locker room more than anything else.

John Wall and Bradley Beal should have an interesting time playing with Dwight Howard next season, that’s for sure. There’s some risk involved, but there could be a reward if things go well. Here’s a look at how he’ll fit on the roster next year.
