Washington Wizards: 3 reasons Jeff Green is a good move

3. Green will be a fan favorite
The Wizards have some exciting young All-Stars in point guard John Wall and shooting guard Bradley Beal, and the team has been relatively successful in recent years; making the playoffs four of the last five years and advancing to the conference semifinals three times.
But the franchise still has some work to do to bring more fans into the Capital One Arena on a consistent basis. The Wizards ranked 24th out of 30 teams in the league in home attendance percentage last season.
Green is not only a local product, but he also has a story that makes people want to root for him.
In 2011, coming off a season in which he helped the Boston Celtics advance to the conference semifinals, Green was diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm, a heart condition that can be fatal. He had surgery and missed the entire 2011-12 season. During his time away from the game, he finished his college degree.
Green returned the following season, and proceeded to post a career-high 16.9 points per game in 2013-14. He went on to play for four teams over the next four years, and now returns to the area where he grew up to play for a team that could benefit from having a fan favorite on the roster.
