The San Antonio Spurs signed shooting guard Marco Belinelli to a $12 million deal over two years.

The San Antonio Spurs signed shooting guard Marco Belinelli to a second stint with the silver and black, per ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski. He last played for the franchise in the 2014-15 season, a year after he was an integral part of the 2014 championship.

In the next three seasons, Belinelli played for four teams, only making the playoffs once since then (this year with the Phialdephia 76ers). In his time away from the Spurs, he has continued to develop his perimeter game.

Belinelli averaged less that 4.0 shots per game from deep for only one team since he left the Spurs. In the last half of the season last year he took 5.3 shots from long range per game, the highest number of his career. Belinelli hit 38.5 percent of his shots from deep while playing for the 76ers.

On top of this, Belinelli has not averaged less than 10.0 point per game since he left the Spurs the first time. He has grown as a player and this could be crucial to a Spurs franchise experiencing its most tumultuous time off the court in recent memory.

This brings us to the three reasons signing Marco Belinelli is a good move for the San Antonio Spurs.
