New York Knicks: 5 reasons Kevin Knox was a good pick
4. Versatility
To succeed in the current landscape of the NBA, you need to have versatile players. Just look at the Golden State Warriors. They have interchangeable players that can fill numerous positions and roles. The Knicks are starting to find more players built in that mold and Knox is the most recent one.
He brings a lot of versatility to the table. Standing 6’9” with a 7’0″ wingspan, he should have no problem playing both forward spots in the NBA. He is more than athletic enough to play small forward, but also possesses the size and length to play power forward. Over the long haul, his best position will probably be as a stretch-4.
Given his size and athleticism, Knox has a chance to become a difference-maker defensively. While his offense is considered his best asset, he has the tools to become a very good defender as well. He should be able to play passing lanes and make some plays defensively in regards to racking up steals.
To succeed at power forward, he does need to develop more as a rebounder, but he has the skill-set to do so. The ability to play both forward spots is something that endeared Knox to the Knicks.
