New York Knicks: 5 reasons Kevin Knox was a good pick
The New York Knicks selected Kevin Knox with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are five reasons why he was a good selection.
The New York Knicks came away with quite a haul in the 2018 NBA Draft. While their fans weren’t happy with the selection of Kevin Knox with the ninth overall pick, they will quickly learn to like him.
Knox was booed on draft night by Knicks fans in attendance. Fans were clamoring and chanting for Michael Porter Jr. to be selected. While Porter has a very high ceiling, his back injury is a major red flag. Knox may not be as highly regarded or well known of a prospect as Porter, but he is nowhere near the injury risk.
Some will consider Knox a safer pick, and in some senses, he is. However, that is not necessarily a bad thing. The Knicks cannot afford to miss on these lottery picks. If they want to take steps forward in their rebuild, having a foundation in place is important.
The Knicks still have a lot of work to do in regards to becoming contenders again. While there is a lot of work to be done, they finally look to have a plan in place. New head coach David Fizdale, general manager Scott Perry and president of basketball operations, Steve Mills, all look to be on the same page.
Fans may not think they have a lot to look forward to this season with Kristaps Porzingis recovering from ACL surgery. However, that is not the case. Knox is worth tuning in for, as well as watching the development of Frank Ntilikina in his second season.
While fans were rough on Knox on draft night, those boos will quickly turn into cheers. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about Knox joining the team. Here are five reasons why he was a good pick for the Knicks.
