Ersan Ilyasova has agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal to return to the Milwaukee Bucks, per ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski. After three years playing for other NBA clubs, Ilyasova is back for the Bucks, the franchise that drafted him with pick 36th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.
In these three years away, Ilyasova has played for the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic in 2015-16. Then in 2016-17, he played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks. Last year, the stretch-4 played with the Hawks before being waived. He was then signed to a minimum deal to play out the season with the 76ers again.
These are a lot of moves for a guy who spent seven of his first nine seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. The other two years were after his rookie season, when Ilyasova played in the Spanish pro league.
With this signing, it appears that the Bucks are trying to replace the production lost as a result of Mirza Teletovic’s health problems. Here are three reasons the signing of Ersan Ilyasova was a good move for the Milwaukee Bucks.
