The Denver Nuggets and Will Barton wasted no time finding common ground during the free agency moratorium period. Here’s a look at why it’s a good move.
The Denver Nuggets have had a busy first few days since July 1 has arrived. In addition to agreeing to an extension with Nikola Jokic, Denver also agreed to re-sign another key piece of their young core, Will Barton, to a four-year, $53 million deal with a player option on the fourth year.
Had the Nuggets not re-signed Barton, he would’ve had the opportunity to test the free agency market. One team that reportedly had a huge interest was the Indiana Pacers. Considering Barton’s contributions and value, it would be hard to foresee him re-signing with Denver had the organization let him test the free agent market.
