2. Miami Heat

While they made the postseason with a 44-38 record, the Miami Heat are somewhat in no man’s land with their current roster. Therefore, a shakeup from their current setup is clearly not out of the realm of possibility. Furthermore, the proposed deal adheres to Jordan’s wish as an owner. That is, if he deals Walker, he receives an All-Star in return.

In his 10th season in the league, Goran Dragic finally broke through for his first All-Star appearance, averaging 17.3 points, 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game. One of the fiercest competitors in the league, bringing aboard a player of Dragic’s status would be invaluable to the young and inexperienced Horners’ core.

Capable of posting big numbers, Dragic had 30 games last season in which he scored at least 20 points, emphasizing his capabilities as both a scorer and distributor.

While he’s now 32 and Walker is just 28, Dragic represents a terrific option at the point to replace Walker until a time comes in which they are ready to hand the reins over to another player.

In addition to Dragic, Justise Winslow represents an intriguing piece for the Hornets moving forward. Still just 22, Winslow made terrific strides on the offensive end last season, raising his 3-point percentage from 20.0 to 38.0 percent. While he averaged just 1.9 attempts per game, Winslow nonetheless had 10 games in which he nailed multiple triples, having done this just seven times over his first two seasons in the league.

On the other hand, Winslow’s defensive prowess remained excellent, with his ability to defend multiple positions an invaluable asset in the modern-day NBA. In addition to a franchise point guard to build around for the future, the Heat also add Jeremy Lamb, a useful bench wing.

Overall, the deal is a mutually beneficial transaction, and Miami would have to be confident in its ability to re-sign Walker given Pat Riley‘s track record, the prospect of playing for Erik Spoelstra and the lure of South Beach.
