With LeBron James set to join the Los Angeles Lakers, what could the team’s starting five look like when the 2018-19 regular season tips off in a few months?

It happened. It really, actually happened. LeBron James has decided to join the Los Angeles Lakers, completing Magic Johnson‘s quest to turn this franchise back into a contender in less than two years’ time. In the NBA, anything truly is possible.

Now that the shock has worn off, though, it’s time to start looking ahead. The Lakers still need to finishing rebuilding this roster, which was rather bare heading into the 2018 NBA free agency period. Getting James’ commitment was just the start. Agreements with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee and Rajon Rondo were the first few of many next steps.

More is sure to come. Now that James has picked his new destination, the dominoes will begin to fall. Soon, we’ll see the Lakers try to make other moves as they look to build out a roster capable of keeping up with the Golden State Warriors, who just unfairly added DeMarcus Cousins.

With that in mind, I’ve decided to try out my sleuthing skills. More specifically, I’m going to make a prediction as to what Los Angeles’ starting lineup will look like when the 2018-19 NBA regular season rolls around in October. There’s still money to be spent and tough decisions to be made, which means plenty more changes could come in the next few days.

Enough idle chatter, though. Let’s jump into my prediction for what the Lakers’ starting five will be following James’ agreement to come westward. Things just got a lot more interesting in the City of Angels.
