1. The championship window remains wide open

Do the Warriors need Kevin Durant to compete for championships? That’s a debate for a different day. What we do know, though, is that the four-time scoring champion’s presence in the Bay Area has turned Golden Stare into a force of dominance unlike any the league has seen.

Since KD joined the Warriors, they’ve lost exactly one time in the NBA Finals and have faced little adversity in the Western Conference playoff bracket.

The two-time Finals MVP’s greatness, coupled with that of his teammates, is simply too much for opponents to handle, and it’s for that reason they were the favorites to three-peat in 2019 before adding Boogie.

Before Durant was a member of the team, the Warriors were incredible, but still vulnerable. Now, they seem unstoppable.

Yes, KD’s presence in Golden State may upset the competitive balance within the NBA, but there is no conceivable scenario in which anyone inside the Dubs organization cares one bit.

Their job is to assemble a team capable of winning a championship for the following year and beyond.
