LeBron James has agreed to take his talents to Hollywood and join the Los Angeles Lakers. Let’s take a look at the reasons he made the wrong decision.

The Los Angeles Lakers entered the 2018 NBA free agency period with more money to spend than any other team in the league. After missing the playoffs the past five seasons, current president of basketball operations Magic Johnson had the necessary resources to assemble a winning squad.

Entering the summer, superstars like Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins, and Kawhi Leonard were reported by various outlets to be joining the Lakers. Although they missed out on George and Cousins, Johnson succeeded in luring the biggest free agent in the NBA to Los Angeles.

LeBron James has decided to take his talents to Hollywood, agreeing to a four-year, $153.3 million deal. Though the agreement wasn’t entirely surprising, wherever James plays, he impacts the entire league. As proven last season in Cleveland, even at 33 years old, he has the ability to elevate a subpar club to the NBA Finals.

If this deal is finalized on July 6, it’s obviously a major plus for the Lakers. Signing the King pretty much guarantees a playoff berth, even in the loaded Western Conference.

However, is this the best situation for James? Sure, he’s playing for one of the premier organizations in the NBA, and one of the most high-profile franchises in all of professional sports. Living in L.A. also allows him the benefit of pursuing his interests in film and business.

Yet, there are reasons to believe that he made the wrong basketball decision in joining the Lakers. Let’s take a look at the top three reasons.
