Oklahoma City Thunder: 3 potential free agency targets in 2018
2. Michael Beasley
Michael Beasley was signed by New York last year for the veteran minimum. He averaged 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 50.7 percent from the field. His value right now is undetermined — he had a very good season with New York, but has a track record of being inconsistent.
The Thunder should take a flier on Beasley if they can get him for cheap. The allure of playing alongside the trio of Westbrook, George and Anthony may go a long way in influencing him. He certainly would be an improvement for Oklahoma City’s bench.
Beasley has been maligned for much of his career because of his inconsistency and the holes in his game. He needs to work on his shot selection and defense.
However, he has the ability to get hot in a hurry. We still see flashes sometimes of the Beasley that was the second overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. He’s coming off some good momentum from last season, so if he can build on that performance he can do a lot to help the Thunder.
