3. Doug McDermott

McDermott became an unrestricted free agent after the Dallas Mavericks withdrew the qualifying offer on Wednesday. Drafted by the Bulls in 2014, McDermott has already played for four teams.

While he’s not a star player, McDermott is the kind of player who can catch fire from the three-point line, something the Kings desperately need. For his career, McDermott has shot 40 percent from the 3-point line. With McDermott on board, maybe the Kings would finally start spacing the floor, which means fans don’t have to hear the Kings’ broadcast crew incessantly chatter about spacing.

McDermott has also shown his scrappiness and has even displayed some athleticism in addition to shooting. Even with all his ups and downs so far in his career, McDermott would be an upgrade for Sacramento at the small forward position.

The Kings were rumored to have interest in drafting McDermott in 2014, but they ended up settling for Nik Stauskas with the No. 8 pick, while McDermott went to the Bulls with the No. 11 pick.
