While the Philadelphia 76ers are chasing superstars during 2018 NBA free agency, there are three reasons why they should bid adieu to J.J. Redick.

The Philadelphia 76ers got all that they bargained for in shooting guard J.J. Redick this past season. The Sixers signed Redick to a one-year-deal worth $23 million last summer, which of course has come to a close.

In 70 games played this year, the 34-year-old Duke product lit up the scoreboard. He averaged 17.1 points, 3.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game, helping Philly return to the postseason for the first time since 2012.

The Sixers are currently in the hunt to bring a highly-touted name to the roster, and they would need to clear up enough cap space by either discarding or reconstructing a few contracts, with Redick’s being one of the first.

Redick is one of the greatest knockdown shooters in the history of the NBA, and is rightfully deserving of a pay raise after a career season. The Sixers now have to be shrewd in their decision-making of whether or not he returns, especially if he wants more money than in their previous contract.
