With the 2018 NBA free agency period right around the corner, Paul George has many suitors. Let’s look at his top five potential landing spots.
Change is afoot, fans. 2018 NBA free agency kicks off on Saturday at midnight. As always, this period brings with it that feeling of certainty that nothing will ever be the same again. There will no doubt be monumental changes in the NBA landscape, and Paul George may well be at the center of it all.
Several teams will try to pry George out of the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder now that he has officially declined his player option and become an unrestricted free agent. His decision will have a profound impact on the league. It will be a significant factor in determining the direction both his old and new franchises take.
If he decides to stay in OKC, the Thunder have a reasonable expectation of remaining competitive in the Western Conference. If he leaves, he will leave behind a hole that will be very difficult to fill.
Because of how versatile a player George is, he is high on many teams’ wish lists. He is one of the best two-way players in the league, and would be a welcome addition for virtually any team, but George is very clear about his priorities this summer. In Part 2 of SportsCenter’s three-part series on Paul George’s free agency, he states that “the most important thing is winning a championship.”
Luckily for George, there are several teams that have either the talent or the money to make his dreams come true. Some spots are riskier than others, and one in particular has a sentimental pull that runs deeper than basketball. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the top five potential landing spots for George during this free agency period.
