Oklahoma City Thunder: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason
2. Re-sign Paul George
With the Thunder being knocked out of the playoffs in the first round, they opened up a potential can of worms. Paul George wants to win, and he wants to win now. He has a decision to make as to whether he stays with the Thunder. At the age of 28, he is in the position to sign one more long-term deal while he is still in his prime.
George will be wondering if the Thunder can offer him the best chance to win or not. He will have almost as many suitors looking for his signature as LeBron James and the money will certainly be on the table.
However, it is the other star who holds the future of the Oklahoma City Thunder in his hands after opting into the final $28 million on his contract. This move has the potential to influence the future of the Thunder.
Anthony did not play up to his stellar standards last season. If George does not believe Anthony can help the team win the way he wants, then he is as good as gone. With severely limited cap space, OKC’s entire future rests in its ability to re-sign Paul George this summer.
