The Memphis Grizzlies selected Jevon Carter with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are three reasons why the former West Virginia point guard was a good selection.

After landing former Michigan State power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. with the No. 4 overall pick, the Memphis Grizzlies sought to use their second round selection on draft night to acquire one of the best perimeter defenders in college basketball.

With the No. 32 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Grizzlies selected Jevon Carter out of West Virginia.

A 6’2″, 185-pound point guard who spent his entire collegiate career playing under the legendary head coach Bob Huggins, Carter averaged a career-high 17.3 points, 6.6 assists and 4.6 rebounds per game during his senior year, leading the Mountaineers to their third Sweet 16 appearance in the last four seasons.

Carter — a four-time Big 12 All-Defensive team honoree — became the first player ever to win two Lefty Driesell Defensive Player of the Year awards during his time in Morgantown, as the player who helped to put West Virginia basketball back on the map seeks to gets ready for his next challenge in the NBA.
