Los Angeles Lakers: 5 reasons Paul George should sign
1. Long-term winning potential
The culmination of the previous four reasons all result in long-term winning potential by signing with the Los Angeles Lakers. If they strike out on LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard and only Paul George joins, they may not be an instant contender. But playing alongside Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma and whoever else they use the cap space on is a core built to win for 5-10 years.
As I mentioned, the lure of Los Angeles looks to be on the rise under Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka. They already have a young coach in Luke Walton who is perfect for the modern NBA with his relaxed personality, experience being around the NBA his whole life and a perfect system in place for success in the league.
Paul George could be the focal point of the team for the immediate future, then turn the keys over to Lonzo and Ingram and revert to a lesser role. There’s endless options for the Lakers and PG. They can ride out the young core or seemingly continuously construct super-teams by luring the biggest free agent names.
