5. Off-court opportunities
It’s no secret that NBA players these days each have their own individual brand and want to build that brand as much as possible. These players are fully invested in businesses and self-promotion off the court, and yes, you can do this outside of the big markets in today’s world, but Los Angeles still remains the pinnacle of growing your brand on and off the court.
Paul George now has one of the most attractive and comfortable signature sneakers in the NBA, with his PG sneaker line being the most worn signature shoe among active players in the league. This trend should continue to spike, especially if he opted for a move to the Lakers and had the power of their brand, not to mention Lakers fans who would come out in droves to purchase his shoe.
We’ve seen PG in a growing number of commercials over the past year or two, and the opportunities in terms of entertainment and connections that reside in L.A. vs. Oklahoma City is no comparison. With players now balancing their brand and on-court responsibilities, living in L.A. would expand his brand to another level, if this is something PG-13 covets in his destination.
