The long-running recruitment of Paul George to the Los Angeles Lakers is reaching the end game with George finally an unrestricted free agent.

One of the biggest names on the market in 2018 NBA free agency is Paul George, who is coming off a disappointing end to his first, and perhaps lone, season playing for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be the obvious contender to pry him away from OKC, despite the latter being able to offer him a max contract, which is over $40 million more than what L.A. can offer him over a long-term deal.

The latest news from the New York Times‘ Marc Stein reports that he is strongly considered a favorite to re-sign in Oklahoma City on a two- or three-year deal, with Paul George attending Russell Westbrook’s house party before the free agency period opened on July 1, ESPN‘s Royce Young.
