Since last summer, Isaiah Thomas’ career has been in flux. Here are five destinations in 2018 NBA free agency that could get him back on track.

Isaiah Thomas will head into this offseason an unrestricted free agent, and on his own terms for the first time in his seven-year career.

Thomas has played for the Sacramento Kings, Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Los Angeles Lakers — his most notable time being with the Celtics, where he averaged 25 points per game over a two-year span.

The Kyrie Irving hysteria last summer with the Cavaliers eventually pumped the brakes on Thomas’ career, pushing him out of a near-perfect situation in Boston via trade to Cleveland, where his role would be uncertain in an entirely new system. He only played in 15 games for the Cavs due to injury, before being dealt again to the Lakers for the remainder of the year.

Tough break.

Thomas may never again reach the value he had during his tenure with the Celtics, but the 29-year-old point guard has a chance to play a key role on a team that is in dire need of a scoring floor general.
