Derrick Favors: 5 potential landing spots in 2018 free agency

2. Atlanta Hawks

Favors was born in Atlanta, he played for South Atlanta High School, and then he played college ball for Georgia Tech (in Atlanta) before going pro.

Now he has an opportunity to go back home, and his hometown team just happens to have salary cap space and a need for as many good players as possible.

The Hawks are apparently trying to follow the blueprint of the reigning champion Golden State Warriors, using two first round picks this year on point guard Trae Young and shooting guard Kevin Huerter in an attempt to recreate a “Splash Brothers” backcourt.

Favors isn’t built in the mold of Draymond Green, but he could play center in a small-ball lineup and has the athleticism to keep up with an up-tempo team if that’s what Atlanta’s front office is trying to put together.
