Joe Harris might not be the flashiest name, but he is certainly someone the Brooklyn Nets must do their best to keep. Here are three reasons to lock him up.
What a ride it’s been for Joe Harris. A former castaway, Harris found a home with the Brooklyn Nets over the past two seasons. His career reclamation project has been one of the main selling points for the developmental acumen of Kenny Atkinson and his assistants.
Harris is one of the first important pieces of the Nets’ rebuild to be available to the open market. It’s a uniquely difficult situation for the front office to work through, as a 28-54 team on the rise shouldn’t commit too much money to a role player.
Despite the timeline-based question marks, there are still myriad reasons to keep Harris around. It doesn’t appear as though he wants to leave, and not many teams can afford to outbid Brooklyn anyway.
Harris is integral to the Nets’ scheme. However, his strengths are also valued around the NBA. His free agency could be difficult to navigate through, should a contender be able to cut some of their payroll.
Barton has been a strong focus for the Pacers, who would pivot and search for perimeter free agent help elsewhere. Doug McDermott and Joe Harris are potential Pacers targets, league sources tell ESPN. https://t.co/gSQJnuIJT5

Regardless, Joe Harris is worth re-signing at a modest rate. His floor-spacing and high IQ brand of play are exactly what coaches are looking for these days.
