4. The Celtics’ time is right now
The Celtics already have three All-Stars in Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford, combined with potential future All-Stars in Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. The roster is loaded, but adding LeBron at the expense of one or two of those guys still elevates this team to an entirely new level.
Don’t be fooled into thinking that the Celtics have time to let the roster grow and become championship contenders from the talent they’ve constructed from within.
LeBron is arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time. He is still at the peak of his powers with no visible sign of slowing down. He is cerebral and well aware of the changes in modern basketball, and has an ability to adapt his game to any style.

In 2017-18, James attempted five 3-point shots per game — his highest mark since 2009. His free throw attempts per game sat at 6.5 per game, tying his lowest mark since his rookie season. Teaming up with the Celtics would allow LeBron to continue to stretch his game to the perimeter and take care of his body in preparation for the postseason
The Celtics have star players, sure, but acquiring LeBron gives them a superstar. They automatically go to another level of contention. As currently constructed, you still question whether they could beat the super-team from the Bay Area. Add James to the bulk of this core and they are right on level pegging.
Any question marks over his fit within the Celtics’ roster are moot, since LeBron fits in any system and not only fits, but takes it to another level.
