4. Isaiah Thomas

The Lakers have several of their own free agents that they need to make a decision on. Isaiah Thomas might be the most difficult of those decisions.

Thomas has been marred by injuries over the last year and was only able to suit up for 32 games last season. He missed the beginning of the year and played in only 15 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and 17 for the Lakers, before undergoing hip surgery in late March.

It was only a season ago when Thomas finished in the top five in MVP voting and was named to the All-NBA Second Team. Cousins probably hurt his chances at a max payday because of his injury, but Thomas may have taken an even bigger blow. There is very little chance a team offers Thomas a long-term deal or a contract for more than the mid-level exception.

Similarly to Cousins, the market for Thomas is lukewarm at best, and he might find himself taking a one-year deal to remain with the Lakers.

As for the possibility of teaming up with his old running mate, Thomas would be open to the idea.

There’s a chance both players could team up in Los Angeles.
