The Los Angeles Lakers have the cap space to sign two players to max contracts, giving them several options in free agency. Here are five potential free agents the Lakers could target in the offseason.
The summer of superstars is almost upon us, and the Los Angeles Lakers are poised to be big players during 2018 NBA free agency.
According to Spotrac, the Lakers will have the most practical cap space heading into the offseason, with enough room to sign two players to max deals. With LeBron James, Paul George and other All-Star caliber players hitting the free market, the Lakers are in prime position to pounce.
Now with Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka running the front office, the Lakers are trying to do something they haven’t done in years: convince a star player to come play in Los Angeles.
There are a few All-NBA players left off this list like Kevin Durant and Chris Paul. Despite the Lakers having the cap flexibility to sign either, there have been strong indications that both players will sign with their current teams.
With that being said, here are the top five potential free agent targets for the Los Angeles Lakers this summer.
