1. Los Angeles Lakers

From a business perspective, playing for the Los Angeles Lakers isn’t all it’s made out to be for LeBron James.

Sure, he’s got plenty of businesses out there, but how often would he be involved with those when he’s locked into the NBA season? Factor in that he lives in L.A. during the offseason anyway and that angle gets squashed.

Rather, the reason the Lakers are the best destination is two-fold.

The first is the obvious one. It’s Los Angeles. His family moves out there once the season ends and he’s got two houses in the area. So his wife and kids wouldn’t oppose to a move to the west coast.

From a basketball perspective, the Lakers have the opportunity to bring in marquee talent to play with James as a result of the two max-contract slots they currently own.

Paul George is a free agent whose expressed a desire in the past to play for his home-town team in the Lakers. Kawhi Leonard recently came out and demanded a trade from the San Antonio Spurs, with L.A. as his preferred destination.

Even if the Lakers don’t acquire any All-Stars this summer, they still have a nice blend of talent with youngster Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Kyle Kuzma all flashing signs of potential stardom.

The team could also hypothetically save some of that cap space for next summer when Kawhi officially becomes a free agent and LA-native Klay Thompson‘s contract expires.

In terms of contending right now, the Lakers aren’t the best spot, but the potential they present along with the lifestyle they bring for both James and his family makes them the clear-cut destination for the King take his talents to.
