4. Clint Capela

As mentioned above, the Rockets are trying to find a way to acquire James and Paul in deals that will likely require pay cuts or more roster moves. Capela, who is a restricted free agent, could wind up being the odd man out.

Capela was the perfect fit in Houston. The 24-year-old was known for his defensive versatility, but was still able to run in the Rockets’ fast-paced, 3-point heavy offense. He flourished as a rim-runner, averaging 13.9 points and 10.8 rebounds per game on 65.2 percent shooting from the field.

Similar to Jordan, Capela’s offensive game is limited to catching lobs, and he shot an abysmal 56 percent from the free throw stripe. Ideally, he would develop a jump shot under the tutelage of Dirk Nowitzki.

Unlike Jordan, Capela is a younger, more desirable asset that would round out Dallas’ scary young core that already features Dennis Smith Jr. and Doncic. Near the end of potential four-year contracts, DJ would be 34 while Capela would be only 28. Capela could also tutor Antetokounmpo for a similar role.
