3. Get more shooting

For all their youth and potential, the Timberwolves haven’t been one to embrace NBA trends. In fact, it seems like they’ve done the complete opposite, ranking dead last in both 3-pointers made and attempted last year.

This issue stems from the dearth of shooters on the roster. Among all five starters, the highest 3-point percentage belongs to their center, Karl-Anthony Towns, which should say everything about the absence of shooting in Minnesota.

How do they flip this trend? Simple. Sign more shooters.

Luckily for the Wolves, there are always 3-point marksmen on the free agent market that can be had for cheap, and this class is no exception, with guys like Joe Harris, Nick Young and Doug McDermott all available to sign.

Whether they want to or not, the Timberwolves need to modernize their game plan, and that means having multiple guys on the court that can keep the defense honest enough to create space.

If they can’t, it’ll be hard to compete with the best of the West, especially when those teams have some of the best shooters in the game.
