Los Angeles Lakers: 5 reasons Moritz Wagner was a good pick
By Dan Lovi
2. Shooting
The Lakers’ biggest need last season was shooting. That happens to be Wagner’s best asset.
Despite taking the 15th most 3-pointers per game last year, the Lakers only connected on 34.5 percent, second-worst in the league.
Wagner shot 52.8 percent from the field and 39.4 percent from beyond the arc in his junior year at Michigan. He was one of the most gifted shooters in this year’s draft, especially for a player his size.
Moe fits today’s NBA game well as a stretch-5 who can shoot from beyond the arc. He is particularly light on his feet for a big man, making him a prime pick-and-pop shooter. He could also flourish when he chooses to roll off the pick, as his size will give him an advantage down low.
Wagner brings a lot of valuable tools to this Lakers squad, but none more so than his shooting ability.
