7. Reggie Bullock “goes in” on the Cavs

In his third season with the Detroit Pistons, Reggie Bullock would find his potential in 2017-18. Capitalizing off of injuries and midseason trades, Bullock utilized his minutes and is set to be in Detroit for one more year so long as the Pistons do not terminate his contract before July 15.

Averaging career-highs in minutes per game (27.9), Bullock also averaged the most points of his short career, posting 11.3 points per game and started 52 games. He had previously started a career-high of five games in six seasons.

The best game of the season for Bullock would come at home on Jan. 30 against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Bullock was inserted into the starting lineup and played lights out, shooting 9-of-15 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point range in 29 minutes of game time to score 22 points in an 11-point victory over the Cavs.

In the absence of Reggie Jackson, and the movement of Tobias Harris through trade, Bullock solidified a place in the rotation under Van Gundy all while shooting an astounding 44.5 percent from beyond the arc and increasing his 3-point made field goals from 28 in 2016-17 to 125 in 2017-18.

With a new regime in place, there’s no real reason for Bullock’s role to change. After a successful and promising season that is sure to increase confidence, the Pistons have a player who can fill it up while not commanding serious money to be spent to keep his services for years to come.

A grit-and-grind player that is sure to fit the identity of new head coach Dwane Casey, the Pistons have established a courtship that’s likely to stay intact for years to come and that should make Bullock and fans extremely happy.
